Kaesea doesn't usually pay much attention to the Christmas tree, although sometimes he likes to lie down on the tree skirt (Of course he does. Because it's something to lie down on!)
This afternoon, he was hanging out under the tree and I saw him sniffing a branch. Thought it would make a good photo and it did:
One second later... chomp!
Yes, that's Kaesea biting the Christmas tree. He's been eating so well lately, it appears that nothing is safe from the Hungry, Hungry Kitten.

12.27.09 [daily photo]
As I mentioned in this post, Kaesea loves to lie down on stuff. Even if it looks completely uncomfortable.
Like, um, a picture frame:
Oh, my little weirdo. Thanks for making us laugh.

Merry Christmas!
After his serious "portrait photo," I asked Kaesea to smile and he obliged...
What a nut!
Many wonderful gifts were exchanged in our household today, but our favorite is this one: our kitty. We're so grateful to have Kaesea with us today.
Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through it all -- we appreciate your thoughts and prayers and comments and love. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Have a very Merry Christmas.

Still here!
I know that posting has been light (read: non-existent) over the past couple of weeks. That's for two reasons:
1. The days are so short now that we basically leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark, which makes photo taking difficult. I need to take more photos at lunch. (Also, the days are getting longer now... yay!)
2. Kaesea is doing really well and I don't want to jinx it. Also, it would be just a lot of posts saying, "Yes, more of the same... more of the same... more of the same." Those posts are boring to me, so I don't write 'em.
But we're here and we're happy to have our kitty. Informal home weigh-ins have had him sitting at 10.2 lbs for the last week or so. We're trying to boost that even higher, but we're happy to be over 10. Yay!
He's still not on chemo. He's been doing so well that we just don't want to rock the boat. I realize that the cancer could "rock the boat" at any day now, but, but... well, there are a lot of buts. He's been happy, playful, fluffy, and hungry for the past month not on chemo, so why mess with it? We may change our minds after the first of the year, but for now, we're just letting him be.
Hope everyone reading this is having a wonderful holiday season. I'm going to try to fashion a Santa hat for Kaesea tomorrow so we can get a special yuletide photo. :)

A brief report of not much to report
Not much news here, other than to [cautiously, oh so cautiously -- you know he loves a jinx] say that Kaeasea has been doing well lately. I went away this past weekend, but Bill was here and Kaesea did great (the basement fun certainly helped).
He has been eating more and more every day. An informal weigh-in today put him at around 9.8 pounds, which is great. He's also been super active, playful, and fluffy. It's been rather cold lately for Northern California, so he's also been cuddly, which is nice.
Still hanging over our heads is the decision of whether or not to go back to chemo. It's hard to say yes to it when he is doing so well, but then, it seems like the best time to do it is when he's doing well. We'll see. It's difficult not to want to try for the "magic pill," but then I'm also nervous about negative side effects. The usual debate rages on. Thank you, as always, for tuning in.

Ever since Kaesea was a kitten, he has always loved to lie down on stuff. Doesn't matter what it is (or how uncomfortable it looks), if there is an item on the bed/table/couch/floor/etc, Kaesea will lie down on it.
Empty apartment with only a book on the floor? You're guaranteed to find Kaesea lying on top of it. Coffee table with just a remote control sitting on it? Kaesea's on that thing.
This morning, Bill put his belt down on the bed as he was putting on his pants. Within seconds, Mr. Stuff Lover had already claimed it as bedding:
Looks like you'll be wearing low riders today, buddy. Good luck with that, cause this belt is all mine now.

Happy Birthday, Kaesea!
Saturday was Kaesea's 14th birthday. I'm happy to report this, since there were many times this past year that I did not think he would see this day. It was a very, very happy birthday for us.
Unfortunately, I was out of town for this momentous occasion, but Bill and Kaesea had a grand old time together. As a special gift, Kaesea got one full hour in the basement! (If you're just joining us now, read all about Kaesea's basement obsession right here.)
He, of course, loved it. Excuse the phone-quality photos (as well as our wreck of a basement), but here is Kaesea exploring the workbench:
Got my safety goggles, hammer, and clamp. We're good to go!
I'm pretty sure I can figure this thing out. Just plug it in and give me a few minutes.
He also enjoyed our copious amount of hockey equipment:
I am conquering Mt. Hockey Bag!
This one is difficult to make out, but we have a tunnel of hockey sticks here -- that's Kaesea's tail disappearing under them:
And, here he is, hiding behind the sticks:
I'm sure no one can see me here!
Overall, despite my absence (he pouted for about 5 minutes until Bill plied him with Ahi. Then it was all, "Mom who? Let's party, dude!") it was a good birthday for him. He remains in good health and good spirits, so that makes us happy.
I'll try to post a few more photos tomorrow and a bit more of an update. Traveling = tiring, so I need to hit the sack. Just wanted to share the good birthday news. I think we need a photo of Kaesea in a birthday hat, don't you?

12.06.09 [daily photo]
Yes, yes. This is a photo of Kaesea, so sacked out that his foot is in one of his food dishes.
The food dish in the foreground is kibble. The food/t dish contains crab meat. He ate some of it, but apparently was not in the mood for crab that night. To quote Kaesea: "Here's what I think of your crab meat, suckers!"
