Wow! I cannot believe it's been TWO WEEKS since I last posted here. No news is good news on our end -- Kaesea has been doing SO well these past several weeks. He's been eating a lot of food, he's been fluffy, he's been playful -- in a nutshell, things have been going well.
His last in-patient chemo treatment was on Oct 14 -- he handled it very well. The only problem we've had in that area is that he refuses to pee while he is at the vet all day and has now started peeing in the carrier on the way home. ("Oh, mom! I'm so happy to see you, I could pee! Whoops. I just did.") (Thank goodness for pee pee pads.)
He also had two at-home chemo doses the following week. I will say that he had some energy and appetite dips on the days following those doses, but he bounced back beautifully.
I have been leaving 2 full bowls of canned food for him every morning and he eats them all (plus kibble!) by the end of the day. I did an "informal weigh in" yesterday at home (weigh myself, weigh us both, subtract to find the difference) and my informal reading was 10 lbs. (!) I don't want to get too excited, as it is not as precise as the vet scale, but it *is* higher than other times I have done that.
Last week was a special milestone for us: Oct 19 was the six month anniversary of the morning we woke up find out that Kaesea's blood oxygen levels had plummeted overnight and he needed a blood transfusion to survive. Most of the people at the hospital that day did not think Kaesea would live through the night. He's proven all of them wrong by hanging out with us for another 6 months. I don't know how much longer we'll have him, but I am so, SO grateful to have had these past 6 months. Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this time.
As for the daily photos, I must admit I have fallen down on the job a bit, but I do have several to share. So I will post what I have this weekend, but they may not be technically "daily."

We are still here
I know it's been over a week since my last update, which can cause our 3-4 readers some worry, so I'm making this commitment to our loyal few: If things go wrong here, I promise to update immediately.
In other words: No news is good news.
Life has been hectic here in other areas lately, so I haven't had time to sit down and write or post photos (!) but I hope to get caught up in the next day or so.
Kaesea had his usual round of chemo yesterday after taking two weeks off. He weighed 9.5 lbs, which is up a tiny bit from 9.4 last time. As always, I wish he would gain more, but I'm happy he is not losing any.
Overall, he's been doing well -- perky, playing, running around the house, loving catnip, purring, making us laugh, etc. We have finally found a cat food that he absolutely loves: Max Cat California Chicken Supreme (cat food names crack me up). He actually eats it all, which made our jaws drop when we saw it, as he usually eats 1/2-2/3 of a can before he gives up. So maybe he'll gain a bit more with that.
So... no news = good news. Thanks for sticking with us. Look for photos tomorrow or Friday.

Our little carnivore
Not much news to report, which is fine by me. Kaesea weighed about the same this week (9.4lbs, compared to 9.44lbs last week and 9.38 for the previous few weeks) so not much change there.
For the most part, he's been his active and perky self with a high Fluffiness Factor. He was oddly quiet this last weekend when relaxing, but when we engaged with him, he was playful and purring.
Last night, Bill made swordfish and Kaesea begged and begged for some (see the daily photo). Of course, we gave him some. He reeeeallly liked it.
Tonight, we had burgers for dinner and I cooked the leftover ground sirloin for him -- we just put it out and, as I write this, he is diving into it like a toddler with birthday cake. I wish the light was better -- it's hilarious and deserves video recording. I don't think he's ever had that before, so he probably thinks I've been holding out on him.
Other than these meat-y treats, his eating has been decent. He still doesn't eat as much as I think he should, but he's not rejecting food entirely, so that's good.
He's got the week off from chemo, but he goes back in next Wednesday. We'll see then if burgers and swordfish have helped to put any weight on.
